AWS or Azure: which cloud suits a growing business?
Both clouds are excellent. The right choice depends on the software you run, the skills you have and how your team already works.

For most growing businesses, AWS and Azure are both mature, secure and reliable. What matters most is which one fits the way your business already works.
Choose Azure if you live in Microsoft
If your team uses Microsoft 365, Windows devices and Entra ID for sign-in, Azure connects naturally with what you already have. Identity, device management and remote desktops integrate cleanly, and existing Microsoft licenses can reduce costs.
Choose AWS for breadth and flexibility
AWS offers the widest range of services and a large ecosystem of tools and expertise. It is a common choice for web applications, SaaS products and workloads built on Linux, open-source frameworks and containers.
What really drives cost
Cloud bills grow through oversized servers, forgotten resources and missing savings plans far more than through the choice of provider. A well-managed environment on either cloud is almost always cheaper than a neglected one.
A practical approach
- List the applications you run and where your users sign in.
- Check which provider your key software vendors support best.
- Start small, measure usage and right-size before committing to reservations.
Whichever you choose, keep the account in your own name, enable multi-factor authentication from day one and set budget alerts before you deploy anything.
